The department performs high-level outpatient pharmacotherapy for cancers that occur in all organs. |
This is a specialty department with doctors (including Board-Certified medical oncologists), nurses, and pharmacists with a medical team approach. The department is regularly consulted by other clinical departments on matters related to chemotherapy and palliative care.
The department cooperates with other clinical departments, and is engaged in operating of chemotherapy room for outpatients, actions as a palliative care team, arranging for chemotherapy regimens, conducting the clinical trials, and education for medical staffs relating to chemotherapy.
We provide global-standard chemotherapy for patients with cancers that occur in all organs and palliative care for patients with cancer symptoms or side effects of treatment.
About 30 chemotherapy regimens per day are administered at the chemotherapy room for outpatients. The palliative care team has been responding to 200 requests in total between July 2006 and July 2012. Since 2009, the department has been entrusted with a total of 13 industrysponsored clinical trials for registration.
Palliative care
The department serves as a Designated Cancer Hospital, and, for training, takes part in the Cancer Professional Training Plan, a program of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology from an educational aspect. The department promotes the study focusing on the differences of the side effects of anticancer agents among different individuals.
