Center that explores new medical treatments to lead the next generation

We support the advanced medical development, practical studies on the collaboration between medical and engineering institutions, and the implementation of accurate and smooth clinical studies. We carry out exploitation of new medical treatments to lead the next generation. It is one of the missions of Nagoya University Hospital.

Operation System

We have two departments: advanced medical support and clinical research support. The department of advanced medical support is staffed by six technologists and two administrative persons. The department of clinical research support is staffed by six clinical trial administrative persons, seven staff members for clinical research review and drug management, 18 clinical research coordinators, four data managers and two monitors. These departments are managed by a director (concurrently assumed) and four full-time faculty members.

Scope of Medical Services

The department of advanced medical support has the largest cell processing room in Japan. Its operations are conducted under strict control according to international standards of quality assurance. This department supports the advanced medicine to provide essential health care to the new treatments, such as genes, cells, tissue culture. The department of clinical research support performs the implementation of accurate and smooth clinical tests that obeys laws and ordinances or guidelines relating to the clinical test such as pharmaceuticals.

Features

We support creating a protocol of a clincal trial, implementing a trial and analyzing data, by allocating teachers who are versed in data management and biostatistics. The Center works to protect trial subjects' rights, safety, and welfare, and support implementation of high-quality clinical trials while securing reliability of data, by following the ICH-GCP, which are international rules.

Other Undertakings

For explore new medical treatments, we have held a patent fair and translational research gathering. And we have endeavored an exchange between industry-government -academia. In addition, every year we have held public management courses, as well as awareness of the importance of clinical trials, and working to raise awareness about public health.
