The nation’s first joint PhD degree was awarded

Dr. Masato Yoshihara received the nation’s first joint PhD degree diploma between Nagoya University and the University of Adelaide dated on March 9, 2020, and the ceremony was held on March 10, at Nagoya University Graduate School of Medicine.  

In October 2015, Nagoya University Graduate School of Medicine established Japan’s first joint PhD program what will lead to a joint single diploma with an overseas institution.  This program allows students to study abroad for more than 12 months at the oversea partner university and receive supervision and take lectures.  After the final joint examination with both universitas, a single joint PhD degree will be awarded.
