Symposium / Experience

Background in organizing this joint symposium

Nagoya University established academic partner relationships with the Faculty of Medicine, University of Freiburg, Germany in 2000 and with the Faculty of Health Science, the University of Adelaide, Australia in 2004. We have a clinical clerkship program which allows the exchange of undergraduate medical students.
As a result of years of exchanging students, faculty members have deepened their relationships.
We would like to expand beyond our undergraduate level relationship to include PhD students, faculty members, and researchers. We hold a symposium with researchers from and students representing all three partner institutions with the objective of promoting interaction at the research level for graduate students and researchers and exploring the seeds for research collaboration.
The symposium was named “FAN” by taking the first letter from the name of each university, University of Freiburg, the University of Adelaide, and Nagoya University.
Since March 2014, the FAN symposium is held along with an academic strategy meeting
