Professional diagnosis and treatment of diabetes and endocrine diseases

We are energetically involved in the diagnosis and treatment of diabetes and a wide range of endocrine diseases.


Medical Care System

Our department has 31 consulting doctors, 13 diabetologists, 3 supervising doctors, 11 endocrine specialists, and 7 supervising doctors; 5 specialists of endocrinology, metabolism and diabetes we provide medical care every day in five examination rooms in the outpatient clinic and 16 beds in the inpatient department.

Target Diseases

Diabetes, dyslipidemia, hyperuricemia, thyroid diseases (e.g., Graves’ disease, Hashimoto’s thyroiditis), pituitary diseases (e.g., acromegaly, hypopituitarism, Cushing’s disease, diabetes insipidus), adrenal diseases (e.g., Cushing’s syndrome, primary hyperaldosteronism, pheochromocytoma) and obesity.

Strong Fields

We provide medical care for lifestyle-related diseases such as diabetes. For diabetes, we conduct blood glucose control that incorporates the latest medical devices such as continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) and sensor augmented pump (SAP). Also, we promote the treatment of diabetes through a comprehensive approach based on team medical care for diabetes in cooperation with nurses, pharmacists, registered dietitians and physical therapist. As for thyroid diseases, in addition to medical treatment, we perform echo-guided fine-needle aspiration cytology; for thyroid diseases including Graves’ disease, autonomously functioning thyroid nodules (Plummer disease) and Graves’ opthalmopathy, we perform internal radiation therapy and retro-orbital radiation in cooperation with Radiology. Also, we perform diagnosis and treatment of all endocrine diseases including pituitary diseases and adrenal diseases. We aim to provide medical care that comprehensively supports the lives of patients with maintaining expertness.

Clinical Results

The number of outpatients (total number) is about 32,000 a year; the number of inpatients (total number) is about 400 a year.

Specialized Outpatient Clinic

For medical care of diabetes, we are actively involved in providing recuperation guidance such as nutritional guidance and foot care. For medical care for endocrine diseases, we perform professional diagnosis and treatments in all thyroid, pituitary and adrenal diseases.

Advanced Medicine and Research

We are conducting basic and clinical researches on central diabetes insipidus, obesity, diabetes mellitus, regenerative medicine of hypothalamus and pituitary, and endocrine-related adverse events associated with immune checkpoint inhibitors.
