Internship as a Part of Bedside Learning

In the 5th year of the clinical medicine course, we have implemented (since 1991) bedside learning (BST) in cooperation with hospitals outside of the university, as we think it is essential in the training of physicians for them to have front-line medical practices experience in addition to advanced medicine at the university hospital. More than 60 hospitals are cooperating with us now. Our education committee distributes guidelines to instructors at these hospitals, and after completion of the practice, we will evaluate the exercise with both students and relevant hospitals. Based on the results, we will make corrections and improvements in the exercise the following year. For instructing physicians at those hospitals, with a clinical professorship system, titles of clinical professor, associate professor and lecturer are invested according to the standards of our university.
