OUTLINE

わが国では現在少子化が急速に進行しているが、核家族化や医療の高度化に伴い、小児科医のニーズはむしろ増大している。当教室では、幅広い小児疾患に対しよりよい医療を提供すべく、診療・研究・教育に努めている。
わが国の現状では、小児科医はまずgeneralistとして一人一人が幅広い小児科疾患に対応する必要がある一方で、specialistとして高度な専門性を持つことが望まれる。当教室では、主に5つの診療グループがあり、specialistとしての専門医療を行っている。
また、40に及ぶ関連病院と連携して、common diseaseに対しEBMに基づいた共同研究を遂行している。研究面では、臨床に直結したテーマを主体に幅広い分野で業績を築きあげてきた。これまで日本医療研究開発機構による難治性疾患実用化研究事業等に採択され、細胞療法・遺伝子治療を視野に入れた、先端医療にも着手している。
