Accelerated Completion of Doctoral Course

Procedure

1. Introduction:

If you wish to complete your doctoral program in an accelerated period, please check the "Requirements for Accelerated Completion of Doctoral Programs (only available in Japanese)" and complete the application process by the deadline.

Please note that the accelerated completion application process and the degree application process are separate, and both processes must be completed by the respective deadlines.

2. Eligible students:

Third year or fourth year doctoral students

3. Accelerated completion is available:

A) in March of the third year (three-year enrollment period)
B) in September of the fourth year (three and a half years enrollment period)
*Except for the above, accelerated completion is not possible.

Notes

• Students applying for accelerated completion must give a presentation at the Graduate School Thesis Defense Meeting (kenkyu happyokai) held in the fall semester of their third year and pass.
• Those who wish to complete in September of the fourth year, should apply for accelerated completion in December of your third year after passing the Graduate School Thesis Defense Meeting.
• Those who wish to complete in March of the third year, their thesis must be accepted by a designated academic journal at the time of application for the Graduate School Thesis Defense Meeting in the fall semester of your third year, as the accelerated completion review will be conducted at the same time as the Graduate School Thesis Defense Meeting.
• You will need to apply for the Graduate School Thesis Defense Meeting (kenkyu happyokai) separately from the application for accelerated completion.
• The original course registration slip (Rishu-hyo) must be received by the student at the Student Affairs Division office and stamped by their academic advisor and sub-supervisor.
