OUTLINE
This department is a research and education group that has inherited the Department of Preventive Medicine established in 1941, aiming to elucidate diseases and health risks through epidemiological research. The current research mainly focuses on cohort studies, and since 2005, it has served as the central office for the Japan Multi-Institutional Collaborative Cohort Study (J-MICC Study), which involves more than 100,000 participants nationwide, in collaboration with the Aichi Cancer Center Research Institute. Additionally, it is responsible for follow-up surveys in the Shizuoka area (Seirei Preventive Health Center, Hamamatsu City), Daiko Study (School of Health Sciences, former Daiko Medical Center, Nagoya City), and Iga City Cohort Study (Iga City General Hospital, Iga City). Furthermore, the group also serves as the administrative office for the JACC Study, a large-scale cohort study with approximately 110,000 participants, for which 20 years of follow-up surveys have already been completed. Efforts are being made to ensure that these valuable data assets are widely utilized by researchers.
