Double (Dual) Degree Program between Nagoya University Graduate School of Medicine and the Chinese University of Hong Kong, School of Medicine Overview

The Chinese University of Hong Kong is a public university established in 1963. It consists of eight faculties, each with its own graduate school. Initially, the university offered lectures in Chinese, but as it became more international, lectures began to be taught in English. After Hong Kong was returned to China in 1997, the university shifted its focus from education to research and has earned a high reputation worldwide, having produced several Nobel Prize winners in the fields of physics and economics. CUHK Global is a university that actively collaborates with the world, attracting international students from all over the world.
Exchanges with Nagoya University (hereafter referred to as NU) began in 2010. In 2016, the two medical schools signed an agreement and are implementing an exchange clinical training program for medical students. In 2017, at the invitation of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, the Global Alliance of Medical Excellence (GAME) was established as a strategic international collaboration between nine of the world's top medical schools. The Chinese University of Hong Kong plays a central role as the organizing school. As a member school, NU is implementing international joint education programs (summer schools and online clinical case discussions).
The two universities have recently joined forces to establish a joint graduate education program: a double (dual) degree program, with the aim of innovating medical research and strongly promoting international collaborative research. Students in the doctoral programs of the Faculty of Medicine at NU and the Faculty of Medicine at the Chinese University of Hong Kong are required to study abroad at the partner university, and when they meet the degree requirements of each university, they will be awarded a doctorate from each university.
