Description GOTO Shinpei (1857-1929) was born the eldest son of GOTO Sanetaka, a retainer of the Rusu clan in the Sendai domain, and wife Rie in Kichikoji, Shiogama-mura, Isawa-gun in Mutsu-no-kuni (today Mizusawa Ward in Oshu City, Iwate Prefecture).This cast statue of Count GOTO Shinpei was erected in Meiji year 44 (1911), and the unveiling ceremony took place on May 4. The statue was removed during the Pacific War, and donated as iron to the country; in Showa year 46 (1971) a bronze statue in the image of a Boy Scout was constructed, and in Showa year 53 (1978) a bronze statue in the same shape as the one in Dalian Hoshigaura Park was erected. This picture postcard is one of a collection of eight released as "Iwate Mizusawa Meisho Bikan (Famous Beautiful Sights of Iwate's Mizusawa)".
