Description |
Medical records from the middle of the Edo period to the beginning of the Meiji period focused on the recording of prescriptions: the medical examination day, patient name, simple name of illness, medicine name and quantity were all included in the medical records in the order of patient examination.
Following the establishment of "Isei" medical laws in Meiji year 7 (1874), doctors were prohibited from making and selling medicines themselves, and prescription books were published.Prescriptions records in this form have been left by many doctors who also compounded medicines. |
