This notebook consists of class notes taken by ITAKURA Yogoro (1865-1937) during lectures on "cholera".The lecturer is unknown.
ITAKURA was born in the first year of the Keio period, in Koromo-mura, Nishikamo-gun, Mikawa no Kuni (today Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture).His family had been accountants in the Koromo domain for generations, but at his father's suggestion he aspired to become a doctor.In Meiji year 12 (1879) he entered "Mitsubachi Gijuku" (1872-1882), a private Western-style medical school opened by KONDO Tanpei (1844-1929) in Washizuka-mura, Hekikai-gun (today Hekinan City in Aichi Prefecture); there he studied the general curriculum and basic medicine, and, in Meiji year 17 (1884), enrolled at Aichi Medical School.After graduating in Meiji year 21 (1888), he opened a practice in Koromo, his hometown.
