Description KUMAGAI Konosuke (1857-1923) was born in what is today Rokugo Misato-cho, Senboku-gun in Akita Prefecture.In Meiji year 14 (1881), GOTO Shinpei, president of Aichi Medical School, had high expectations of him to shoulder responsibility for the future of the School, and KUMAGAI moved to Nagoya to begin employment as a first-class teacher.In those days, Bachelors of Medicine were highly prized, and his salary exceeded School president GOTO Shinpei's considerably. Over the next 33 years he worked as president of Aichi Medical School, Aichi Prefectural Medical College, and so on. These lecture transcripts are from notes taken by ITAKURA Yogoro (1865-1937) in class; the first volume covers the lectures in two semesters from January to December of Meiji year 19 (1886), while the second covers two semesters from January to December of Meiji year 20 (1887) .
