Description On July 1, Meiji year 10 (1877), Aichi Prefectural Public Medical Institute and Aichi Prefectural Public Hospital moved from Nishi Hongwanji Betsuin to a new building in Horikawa-suji Ten'nozaki.At the time, they were said to be Nagoya's number one Western-style buildings. The following April (1878), the name was changed from "Public Medical Training School" to "Public Medical School", and was systemized as a school of Western medicine both in name and in fact.After that, from Meiji year 14 (1881) to 34 (1901) the School and Hospital were respectively named "Aichi Medical School" and "Aichi Hospital".
