Description |
This Chinese-style chest, decorated with the Aoi crest (the coat of arms of the Tokugawa clan), contains "Hadagi", under-clothing of the 10th feudal lord of Owari domain, TOKUGAWA Narimoto (1793-1850), given to MIMURA Gencho (1792-1853) by the feudal lord TOKUGAWA.
The Japanese wrapping paper reads in indian ink: "Under-clothing for His Majesty Genjun-sama (Genjun is TOKUGAWA Naritomo's Buddhist name), given on February 16, the third year of Kaei, 48th of the sexagenary cycle.(Donated by Mr. SAIGUSA Sumio on September 13, Showa year 47 (1972) ) |
