I am a year 6 medical student from Peking University. It is my pleasure and honour to have 6 weeks rotation (3 weeks GI; 3 weeks Radiology) here in Nagoya University. The clinical rotation in Nagoya University is rewarding as I opened my eyes to the Japanese medical system, as well as acquired abundant knowledge with respect to my field of interest. I also met very friendly mentors and even some medical buddies here in NU!

In terms of the schedule, I adapted to it easily. The day usually starts around 8:30, sometimes even later, depending on ward and your mentor. The day sometimes ended early and you would have time to explore the city. As long as you communicate enough with your mentors and your supervisors, you could even have a tailored-made learning schedule and content that best-fit with your expectation. For me, I am interested in colonoscopy, ERCP, and clinic time, my mentor tried his best to arrange the schedule, for it is useful to my studies. I am glad the schedule here is easy to follow and the learning content caters to my needs!

Another highlight about the mentors(Doctor, aka先生; even Professor, aka 教授), is that they are super friendly to foreign students. They would always care about if their arrangement suits your studies. As aforementioned, they are very keen on teaching, treating you as nicely as the local students. What is even more, is that some mentors would offer you tutorial time with other Japanese students or even offer you some private tutorial, sharing with you their previous/current research work, inspiring you about some of the latest findings in the field. These are the reasons why I would definitely recommend this program to my overseas friends.

I am so impressed with what I have learned here. I believe this rotation experience nurtures me and allows me to thrive. Lucky to be here.
